When arriving home with your brand new baby she is so cute you can simply not stop staring at her!!! Make sure to capture these sweet sleepy moments anyway and in everyway you can, it zooms by!
Photographs of your new baby are best within the first 7 days of life while the little bundles are still sleeping deeply, easily and most of the time!! These are the days when they can be moved and adjusted easily while sleeping. Their spirits are still adjusting to life outside the womb and have not quite landed yet! Around day 8 they seems to learn the joy stretching and then after 14 days they are wide awake and ready to party!!
When preparing for your newborn photo shoot here are a few things to consider:
- Plan your outfits ahead of time and remember coordinating not matching!
- Do not bother cleaning the house for me, I know what its like to have a newborn!!
- Pull out any special items/props as well as swaddles, nappy covers and any hats you would like included
- Bathe, feed, and do whatever necessary to have a calm and sleepy baby
- Warm up the room so the baby will not be cold without clothes on during the shoot
- Often the parents room has the best light so please ensure the bedside tables are clear of clutter
The shoot can take around 2 hours while waiting for the baby to feed and be put to sleep multiple times! So boil the kettle and make sure you bring your patience. The focus will be on the star of the moment but I make sure to capture the family shots as well in natural loving situations.
But most importantly, enjoy this time it is so precious!
