Now that you have recalled your earliest memory, can you recall it vividly? Is it color? And can you hear sound for was there a smell?

Freud coined the term 'childhood amnesia' which explains why children's first memories can occur at 3-4 years of age and often not until 4 and was linked to verbalization. And even then it is difficult to decipher if the memory was triggered by a story or a photograph.

Most of my early memories are from photographs, as i try to recall them now they are holidays, special occasions or vacations. Mom was always happy snapping so for me it is hard to separate as I loved looking at old photos.

You know where I am going with this right?

Photographs are the proof, the are the cement that binds in times of loss and grief but also joy.
