A King tide wave crashed my sunset beach shoot!!

I had the absolute pleasure of spending the 'evening after the storm" on Sunday photographing this amazing family from Sydney! I arrived early to an incredibly windy beach with MASSIVE waves! The tide was low enough that I thought I could get some epic shots before the tide came up for 8pm high tide. Being winter it was only 5pm!

The children were running, playing, and having a blast as the sky put on the most amazing light show! Then I had them all up on a rock for a stunning family shot as I pulled the camera away from my face I yelled, "water!!". Dad and the little one made it to dry land but mom and the older sister were in hip and neck deep water. It was dry just moments before!!!

As the tide retreated we assessed the damage and decided to go to higher ground, after a costume change of coarse! There were no tears from children and no hysterical adults I was so impressed and relieved...the shoot could go on. We just had to hope we had enough sun left!

With dry clothes on, except for the adults, we headed uphill to Little Wategos which was picture perfect! The girls loved watching the waves as I captured their excitement until the sun was well and truly gone.

Moral of the story, "Get back on the horse, show must go on!"

(Permission from the family limited the images I could post but I definitely wanted to share this story.)
